The Fabulous Flower Fairies

Rose was nervous about starting her first day at flower fairy school. All the other fairies were already in groups, giggling excitedly as they hovered outside. Rose flew slowly towards the magical classroom inside a magnolia bud. The pretty pink walls made everyone inside look rosy. A blonde fairy dressed in white satin skipped over to Rose. "Isn't this exciting?" she said. "I'm Daisy."

"Rose," said Rose. "Why, what are we doing?"

"We're going on our first field trip!" Daisy said happily. "We're going to go and learn about the flowers for ourselves!"

"Oh goody!" If there was one thing Rose loved, it was flowers. It was in her nature!

Mrs. Thistle took the register to make sure all fairies were accounted for. Then they split up into groups and headed out to the field.

The flowers were ten times bigger than the fairies, so it was like a forest to them!

Each fairy was given a checklist, and they had to tick off when they found certain flowers, or learnt certain things about them. Rose learnt about the different parts of a flower; the stem, the petals, the nectar and the roots. The next thing every fairy had to do was find their namesake flower.

When Rose found rose, she felt a tingly sensation. She made a connection with the flower, and it powered up her magic! Suddenly she was flying higher than ever before, and was whizzing through the air, having the time of her life. She saw her classmates doing the same, and they all danced together happily.

When the dance ended, she returned to the rose to find a yellow and black creature coming out of it, its arms laden with nectar.

"Thief!" she screamed, chasing after the bee. Rose started bashing the poor bee on the head with her magic wand, but the bee wouldn't give up the nectar it had taken.

"Stop!" Yelled Mrs. Thistle.

"He's getting away, Miss! He stole my flower's nectar!"

"No, child. Bees are our friends! They take the nectar to help grow new flowers, to keep our magic alive!"

"Oh," said Rose, feeling silly. She apologised to the bee for hitting him over the head.

"Don't worry," said the bee. "If hitting my old head means you learn something new in yours, then I feel it was worth it”

Everyone laughed, and from that day on, field trips were always interesting with rose on hand!
